Very well, here we are at the last step.

The next step is styling.

At this point you may decide to use a finishing product, preferably on hair that is still full of water, to give your curls a little more volume or shine and make them even more "crunchy".

The final pre-drying step can be done by using the leave-in conditioner (on its own) or later by applying the curl gel to "fix" the curls more.

The Curly Girl Method is an approach to care for naturally curly hair that has not been chemically modified with a perm.

It may sound complicated but .... is simpler than you think...

STEP 3 - Defining curls (and drying)

LEAVE IN CURLY HAIR CONDITIONER YVYLINE - CURLY HAIR CONDITIONER without RINSE

It is a conditioner that, unlike traditional conditioners, does not need to be rinsed out.

LEAVE IN CONDITIONER; the term leave-in in English means "literally" to stay on; it is therefore a leave-in conditioner without rinsing to be applied to the lengths. The YVYLINE leave-in conditioner has the same functions as the conditioner, i.e. it nourishes, moisturises and makes the hair softer and silkier.

However, it differs in its use, becoming an indispensable complement in a proper beauty routine for curly hair.

  • After the washing step (YVYLINE shampoo or cowash) and the conditioning step (YVYLINE mask and/or conditioner), towel-dry your hair with a microfibre towel only and exclusively: avoid terry towels, as they tend to absorb too much water, electrifying the hair and making it frizzy. Then proceed with the application of the leave-in conditioner.
  • Divide the hair into several sections, applying the product strand by strand on all the lengths. It will certainly take longer, but this way the product will be able to penetrate deeply and therefore work better.
  • Then proceed to blow-dry.

Another option for the Leave-in Conditioner YVY LINE is application on dry hair.

  • Use it as a curl revitaliser on the second, third and fourth day after washing. Application is the same as when your hair is damp. Divide into strands and apply to all lengths, massage lightly to assist and then let your curly hair dry naturally.

A tip for those with fine hair: using a leave-in conditioner without rinsing may be far preferable to an oil, for example. The latter, in fact, on fine hair risks creating an oily effect, whereas a leave-in conditioner with a light texture has the prerogative of moisturising without being greasy.

Benefits of using YVYLINE leave-in conditioner:

Moisturises dry hair: the main purpose of the leave-in is to provide additional moisture and keep curly hair moisturised. This makes it particularly suitable not only for curly hair but also for frizzy hair that needs more moisture.

Detangles tangled hair: YVYLINE no-rinse conditioner contains specific elements that work to detangle and soften curly hair. If your hair tangles and knots easily, the YVYLINE curly hair leave-in will help untangle knots and make your hair more manageable.

Improves curly hairs responsiveness to styling: the YVYLINE curly hair leave-in conditioner gives curly hair a flexible hold that is useful for "reviving your curls". It can also be used safely several times during the day.

Protects curly hair: it creates a protective film that acts as a barrier against both heat (it works as a thermo-protector during the drying phase) and atmospheric agents such as sun, air, smog, humidity... It makes and keeps curly hair shinier and combats frizz.

And after washing? Microfibre, air and patience

Dab your hair with a towel, preferably microfibre: avoid terry towels as they tend to absorb too much water, electrify the hair and make it frizzy.

At this point you should let your hair air dry. Of course, this is not always feasible, especially in winter. The alternative is to dry your hair with a diffuser at low temperature and low intensity, trying to touch your hair as little as possible.

If your hair is curly and heavy, we advise you to gather the lengths from the bottom upwards with an open hand "pushing" them towards the nape of the neck.

A possible solution (but it depends on the type of hair and curl) is "Plopping", i.e. wrapping the hair in a microfibre cloth and holding it for 1 to 2 hours and then air drying. Again, in winter, our advice is to use the plopping method for about 20 minutes and then proceed with the diffuser, alternating between warm and cold air.

When your hair is completely dry, stand on your head and massage your scalp vigorously, this serves to create volume and to break up the cast formed by the styling products.

As it dries (if you have used gel it will be more noticeable) your hair will tend to become stiff. This layer is called a cast and helps to preserve the shape of your curls and protects them "from frizz" until they are completely dry.

And afterwards?

To keep your curls in good condition between routines, our advice is to protect your hair overnight with a silk cap or buff (or by pulling your hair into a high ponytail). To reduce frizz and soften hair/buff friction, silk pillowcases can be used.

Between washes you can still "take back" the curls by applying LEAVE-IN YVY LINE or YVYLINE CURLY GEL diluted in water.....

Some general "advice":

Do not brush curly hair dry: use your fingers and, if necessary, a Denman brush to loosen curls, always in the shower with thoroughly wet hair.

Avoid straighteners: heat is very aggressive and damaging to all hair, for curly hair in particular it deforms and modifies the structure, making it even more damaging.
