Monitoring trap for early detection of a Box Tree Moth infestation
The TOPBUXUS Box Tree Moth Trap is supplied with 2 syringes with attractants (pheromones) for the Boxwood moth, sufficient for one season of Box Tree Moth monitoring. The male butterflies of the Boxwood moth are attracted by the pheromones and fall into the container. Biological treatment with TOPBUXUS XenTari is recommended 2 weeks after the first sighting of moths. This way you can control the Boxwood moth and caterpillar in a simple and effective way.

Easy Box Tree Moth Monitoring

Place the TOPBUXUS Box Tree Moth Trap near your Box TreesAssemble the Moth Trap according to the instructions on the packaging. Take the 1st syringe out of its bag. Fill both attractant containers with half of the first syringe each. The attractant is quite thick and will not run out of the container. Place the containers in the trap - one in the trap lid and one inside the trap - and hang up the trap as close as possible to your Box Trees. Store the 2nd syringe for later use, you can use it 3 months later to refresh the attractants in the trap. |
Easy detection of a Box Tree Moth infestationThe male Boxwood Moths are attracted by the pheromone attractant and caught in the trap. Check the trap regularly for the presence of Boxwood Moths. A new Box Tree Caterpillar infestation can be expected around 2-3 weeks after the first observation of moths in the trap. |

The Box Tree Moth/Caterpillar Season
The first caterpillar infestation of the season can be expected at the beginning of spring. These caterpillars can be treated with TOPBUXUS XenTari. Box tree moths do not yet appear at this stage in the season.
The TOPBUXUS Box Tree Moth Trap is a practical tool to more easily predict the right timing for the next TOPBUXUS XenTari treatments. At the beginning of May, hang the trap in the immediate vicinity of your Boxwood. When you spot the first Boxwood moths in the trap, you can expect new caterpillars in your Buxus about 2 weeks later. As soon as you spot these caterpillars, repeat treatment with TOPBUXUS XenTari.
3 Months after applying the 1st syringe, refresh the pheromones with the 2nd syringe.
Note: The TOPBUXUS Box Tree Moth Trap is intended to monitor activity of the Boxwood moth. Using this trap will not prevent caterpillars from appearing in your Boxwood, treatment with TOPBUXUS XenTari remains necessary to control the caterpillars.

The owner of this Boxwood garden asked us at TOPBUXUS for advice and sent us this photo (left) of his blighted boxwoods at the end of the season. Upon our advice, a layer of TOPBUXUS CARPET was applied underneath and around the plants and a treatment with TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX was carried out, this treatment was repeated after 2 weeks. In the following season, additional fertilization with TOPBUXUS GROW and monthly treatments with TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX were carried out.
