Meinl Sonic Energy wind gongs are traditionally handmade in China using a special bronze alloy. These gongs are also known as Feng or Sun Gong and have an almost flat shape. This flat shape is known to allow the gongs voice to open completely with a wide tonal spectrum and long sustain. Lower tones are more dominant when played softly, but with more powerful play, the gong opens well and produces open waves. Each gong comes with a beater designed to match the size of the gong.
