The Royal is the Kendama of choice for European and British champions.
Designed in collaboration with renown Kendama expert The Void as chief designer, and getting input from kendama players worldwide, we made a model that’s perfect for beginners and pros alike. The Royal Kendama M.O. is clear – we stand proudly in the traditions of the past, but with eyes firmly fixed on the future.
The Void, whose vision made the Royal kendama possible, is two time national champion, author of three Kendama Trick Books and the first Westerner to reach 5th Dan Grading in the Japanese Kendama Tournaments.
Royal Kendama is the home of some of the best sponsored players in the game including British and European champions.

Careful ConstructionWhen it comes to Kendama design the team at Royal Kendama have no time for half measures. The tiniest tweaks in shape and balance all help when it comes to getting the right feel for a trick. It took years of trials and tricking to finally get the Ken that can. |
Real ResearchIt took a team of pro-players, some talented craftsmen and a whole lot of playing to get the Royal where we needed it to be. We took elements from our favourite kendamas and look backed to the roots of Kendama to make a model that rewards and challenges. |
Beautiful BeechWe needed a durable hardwood that was uncompromising and gave the best grain possible. Quality beech was the only choice. Assured free of knots and flaws, our beech is tough and will look better as it matures. |
Glorious GlossSix lustrous colours adorn our tamas. The key to the Royal paint is longevity and texture. Our paint stays fresh for longer – slick at first until it reaches clicking maturity. Then you can enjoy the grippy texture of a veteran tama, ripe for a Moon Landing. |
The team behind Royal Kendama have over 30 years experience manufacturing and playing with skill-toys. We’ve always loved kendama – they’ve always been in our pockets, on our shelves and in our hands – and its been with much joy we’ve witnessed the scene flourish in to the community around us.
We wanted to create a great quality kendama for all styles of play – firm and stable for the balances, light and agile for the aerial kids, precise and fluid for the spike fanatics. This kendama had to tick all the boxes.
Taking inspiration from the competition specifications of Japan and the BKA, we went to work on the Ken, Cups and Tama. Old school wisdom and new-school methods were all thrown in the crucible.
The traditional Japanese toy for the modern, professional player.
