Vinyl Cleaning Brushes

There are two basic cleaning methods you can use for vinyl records; dry and wet. The dry method involves using a vinyl brush, designed to sweep the dust, dirt and debris from the surface of the record.

Carbon fibre and velvet brushes are both an effective cleaning tool. Carbon fibre brushes have long bristles that can get deep into the grooves of a vinyl record whilst a soft velvet brush will gently remove impurities and can also be impregnated with record cleaning fluid for a deeper clean.

Record Cleaning Fluid

No matter how careful you are, we are all prone to leaving fingerprints and greasy deposits on vinyl records.

The wet method of vinyl record cleaning involves using a record cleaning fluid and works for removing fingerprints and grime that the dry brush cant remove. It is advised that you always remove the surface dust particles before proceeding and Acc-Sees Record Cleaning Fluid contains a microfibre cloth for this purpose.

Record cleaning fluids generally contain diluted isopropyl, which breaks down the grease deposits on vinyl records without damaging the delicate service. The ideal solution for deep cleaning your records from time to time, whilst dry cleaning is recommended before and after every play.

Stylus Cleaning

Your stylus works really hard. It’s tracing the grooves, encountering dust and micro-debris each time you play a record. Since its essentially cleaning out the grooves of the record as it plays, theres a tendency for the stylus to gather dust and small particles. It is essential to clean this dust from your stylus needle to prevent performance degradation and lengthen the life of your records.
