What is Chamois?

Chamois leather, also known as shammy, is a piece of lamb or sheep skin which is tanned using natural(marine) oils after having its grain removed.

Why use chamois instead of microfiber?

Chamois is a very soft and thick type of leather that is known for its super absorbent ability. It can absorb water that’s up to 6 times its weight. Because of how soft and non-abrasive the material is, it is most commonly used for Auto Care.

Why does the chamois have a little fishy smell?

Genuine chamois contains natural oils that make it soft and durable, so it’s normal to have a little fishy smell. The smell will disappear after several washes. It also serves to identify the real leather.

How to prepare for using the chamois cloth?

Before the first use of Chamois, wash the Chamois in warm soapy water, rinse the leather thoroughly afterward, and press the material to remove excess water. Don’t wring it, or it may tear the leather. Then lay it out to dry.

How to care for Chamois？

After each use, rinse the Chamois well and dry it away from direct sunlight. Store it in a dry and cool place. Make sure to never use bleach or detergents to wash your chamois.
