Description

The chalumeau is an ancient wind instrument, prior to the current clarinet, with a simple reed that is composed of a wooden body with the same fingering as the recorder (German fingering) and a clarinet mouthpiece. It is from the late Baroque and early classical times. It is highly valued because it represents an alternative to the flute, is easy to play, and has a soft, warm sound.
