Our wine barrel as a flower pot
Oak barrels are handmade with a thickness of almost 3 cm and can therefore withstand any weather conditions: they are virtually indestructible. Barrels are not only frost-resistant, but also have an insulating effect in winter due to the thick layer of wood. As planters, they offer enough space to plant palm trees, olive trees or smaller trees.
Plant directly in the barrel - it is not recommended to line it with plastic film because the barrel needs moisture. Topsoil and regular watering of plants will keep the stem in top shape.
Our wine barrel as a small pond
The newly delivered wooden barrel can be used by you immediately as a pond.
If the barrel is dry for some time, due to the swelling capacity of oak wood, small cracks can be created between the slats, however these close after filling with water after a short time and the barrel is tight again.
Under certain circumstances the water in your new wooden barrel when filling for the first time has debris. These are the natural residues of preserved wine. After changing the water two or three times it will become clear. If you want to use the barrel as a pond, you need to make sure that you have sufficient water circulation in your wooden barrel. Water circulation is made by a pump that circulates water in the wooden barrel and thus supplies the necessary oxygen in the water. When planting water lilies and other aquatic plants it is really advisable.
Before adding fish, check the water quality.
