Marshalltown tradition, quality and innovation
125 years, Marshalltown relies on quality and innovation and is the worlds largest and most modern manufacturer of construction equipment and tools.
In 1890, Jesse and Lester Williams founded a small machinery store in Marshalltown where bikes and cars were repaired and occasionally tool orders were carried out for local construction companies. A local plaster asked if they would adjust some tools for him. The customer was very satisfied with the improved product. The brothers Williams still built a few trowels and brought them to the market. Their small store quickly became a production and mail order business. Sales increased. The brothers and the seller Albert Higgin officially founded the Marshalltown Trowel Company in 1905. Sales grew exponentially in the USA and Canada. The World Wars introduced Marshalltown into new markets. Modern communication and transport facilities made it easier for goods and sales orders to cross the ocean. By 1930, Marshalltown was the worlds largest exclusive manufacturer of masonry tools.
Marshalltown was the first company to offer some of the most innovative changes in their industry. The innovation spirit was clear from the beginning and continuous product development has helped the company achieve and maintain its status as a quality standard since 1890. Marshalltown Trowel changed his name in 2003.
