Description

DECOUPAGE is the art of decorating an object by sticking cutouts of colored paper on it in combination with special painting effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements. Usually, an object such as a small box or furniture is covered with cutouts of magazines or papers made for this purpose. Each layer is sealed with varnish (often several layers) until the "glued" appearance disappears, and the result resembles a painting or inlay job. The traditional technique used 30 to 40 layers of sanded varnish to achieve a polished finish. Its much easier now: just apply the podge mod to the surface of your object, then smooth onto the rice paper. Starting from the center of the sheet and push outward with a ball of tissue or fingers to eliminate wrinkles and bubbles. Coat with mod podge or other finishing medium and allow to dry.
